Après l’école d’art Slade à Londres, j’ai construit des formes complexes en bois avec joints inventés. Celles-ci se sont développées en de grands vaisseaux taillés dans un seul bloc. Début 2003 j’ai repris cette dernière phase, travaillant les billes avec des outils manuels et traditionnels.
Avant de retourner à la sculpture, je me suis consacré à la gravure sur bois et la peinture. Jusqu’en 1990 résidence en Angleterre et depuis travaille et vit en France.
Mes oeuvres se trouvent au Fonds National d’Art Contemporain, Musée des Arts Décoratifs-Paris, Musée La Piscine – Roubaix, La Henry Moore Foundation, Tate et le V&A museum bibliothèques et autres collections publiques et particulières.
Actuellement, en parallèle avec mes sculptures j’ai repris la gravure sur bois, une discipline que j’ai déjà pratiquée durant les années 80. À présent non figuratives mes gravures sont conçues dans l’ombre et en admiration du monde typographique.
After the Slade art school in London, I constructed complex wooden patterns and spheres using invented joints. These developed into big timber urns. Beginning 2003 I returned to carving those cyclopean bowls. With traditional hand tools, no electric or petrol.
I convert substantial halved tree trunks into my sculpture vessels.
In between the wood-working periods I produced wood-cut prints and paintings. Since 1990 I have lived and worked in France. My work is in the Fonds National d’Art Contemporain, Musée des Arts Décoratifs-Paris, Musée La Piscine-Roubaix, The Henry Moore Foundation, Tate and V&A Libraries, as well as other public and private collections.
Current work, in parallel with my sculptures I am now working on woodcut prints, a discipline I already practiced in the 80s. The new non figurative prints reflect my admiration for the world of typography,
